Battle Ground City Services

Battle Ground City Services is a collection of departments in the city. These departments are responsible for providing quality service to the citizens of Battle Ground, Washington. From the Public Works Department to the Police Department, this city offers a wide variety of services. From regulating traffic to providing emergency services, the various departments work to improve the quality of life in the city.

City Hall
The Battle Ground City Services Department provides a variety of services to its residents. The Police Department works closely with the community to combat crime and provide a high level of service. The Public Works Department manages the city’s public works projects and ensures the proper operation of utilities. The Fire Marshal’s Office protects life and property through fire prevention and code enforcement activities. The Finance Department provides customer service and supports the city’s financial operations.

Public Works Department
The Public Works Department is an integral part of the City of Battle Ground. The department is dedicated to the quality of life in the city by protecting public health and safety. The Engineering and Operations divisions are responsible for the maintenance of City streets, public facilities, and utilities, such as water and sewer. Currently, the department maintains over 75 miles of City streets and associated infrastructure, including the Battle Ground Water System.

Building Division
The Building Division of the Battle Ground City Services Department is responsible for providing administrative services related to building codes, building permit processing, and inspection of new and existing structures. They also work in partnership with the Washington State Department of Revenue and Business Licensing Service to administer the city’s business license requirements. This division also oversees the enforcement of city code regulations, with the primary emphasis on general health and safety.

Community Development Department
The Community Development Department of the Battle Ground City Government is responsible for long-range planning and development. They also oversee the city’s permitting process and maintain city codes. The department also administers the Transportation Fund, which accounts for motor vehicle fuel taxes and state grants. Fuel-efficient vehicles and driver conservation efforts help reduce the amount of money distributed from this fund. The department also handles the maintenance and repair of roadways, sidewalks, and lighting.

Parks & Recreation Department
The Battle Ground City Parks & Recreation Department offers community-based activities and events for residents of all ages. Programs and events range from arts and crafts to recreational activities. The Department is also committed to encouraging healthy play for children. Families are encouraged to participate in its summer program, which is free and open to the public. The department maintains four neighborhood parks that serve the citizens of Battle Ground, Amboy, North County, and Ridgefield.
